Mirabegron, the first β3-adrenoceptor agonist to enter clinical practice, has a different mechanism of action from antimuscarinic agents. Mirabegron is used to treat urgency, urge urinary incontinence, and increased urinary frequency found in the overactive bladder. Mirabegron is rapidly absorbed after oral administration and circulates in plasma as the unchanged form, its glucuronic acid conjugates and other metabolites, which are pharmacologically inactive.
